Worthington Primary School

As headteacher of Worthington Primary School in Sale, Trafford, it has been my pleasure to work with Shane Yates and Tricks & Flicks since 2005. During the last ten years, Shane’s enthusiasm for sports and PE in general has shone through and has greatly added to the life of and the curriculum offer here at school.

Shane and his team support learning throughout the week and cover teacher’s PPA time with PE lessons. Each lesson is carefully planned and differentiated to enable children to raise their own personal achievement level. Shane and his staff have superb communication skills and very effectively work alongside teachers in our school to develop a meaningful and progressive curriculum. Children are extremely well behaved in every lesson and visibly enjoy every event. The relationship between each member of Shane’s staff and the children is an obvious strength; each child is known to the staff by name and not only that but the staff know the individual personalities of the children. This ensures that lessons run smoothly and a bond develops in a very short space of time.

In addition to curricular support, Shane offers us a range of extension activities before and after school as well as during holidays. Tricks & Flicks offer a full range of sports and athletic activities, as well as gymnastics and dance. At the present time, we benefit from dodgeball sessions, football skills, multi-sports activities all taking place outside of the timetable. The holiday clubs available in school offer children great sporting activities as well as time-out activities such as Wi-Fit and the like.

Once children start with Tricks & Flicks before or after school activities, they don’t ever want to stop. Parents see the clubs on offer as superb value for money but it is the feedback that their children give them about the sessions that is the great seller.

Our school’s association with Tricks & Flicks has flourished and developed over the years and we will never want to see it end – a fantastic partnership!
